چکیده

As pulmonary drug deposition is a function of aerosol particle size distribution, it critical that the dynamics formation and maturation in pMDI sprays interim between generation inhalation are fully understood. This paper presents an approach to measure evaporative condensational fluxes volatile components water from solution droplets following using novel technique referred as Single Particle Electrodynamic Lung (SPEL). In doing so, evaporating shown capable acting condensation nuclei for water. Indeed, we show rapid vaporisation droplet directly correlated volume taken up by condensation. Furthermore, significant condense on model formulation (hydrofluoroalkane (HFA), ethanol glycerol) during ageing, displaying dramatic shift core composition species predominantly (non-volatile glycerol remained this case). yields with activity 0.98 at instance inhalation. The implications these results regional total explored International Commission Radiological Protection (ICRP) model, integrated semi-analytical treatment hygroscopic growth. Through this, upon produce markedly different dose profiles those lower activities point inspiration.

Development of a sampler to estimate regional deposition of aerosol in the human respiratory tract.

A multistage sampler was developed and tested to estimate regional deposition of aerosol in the human respiratory system. The motivation for this research is to improve our ability to estimate inhaled aerosol dose. Current methods for aerosol measurement and exposure/risk assessment are based on particle aspiration (e.g. inhalable PM) or on penetration to various regions of the respiratory syst...

Regional deposition and regional ventilation during inhalation of pentamidine.

In most patients, the deposition of aerosolized pentamidine (AP) is less in the apex of the lung relative to the base. As the apex of the lung is relatively less ventilated than the base, it is possible that reduced regional ventilation may explain the inhomogeneity in regional drug deposition. The purpose of this study was to measure the relationship between regional deposition of AP and regio...

Deposition and retention of ultrafine aerosol particles in the human respiratory system. Normal and pathological cases.

The particle number concentration in ambient air is dominated by nanometer-sized particles. Recent epidemiological studies report an association between the presence of nanoparticles in inhaled air at the workplace and acute morbidity and even mortality in the elderly. A theoretical model of deposition of 20 nm particles in the human alveolus was formulated. Gas flow structure and deposition ra...
